Peter Waters (1930-2003) was Conservation Officer at the Library of Congress from 1971 until his retirement in 1995. Waters was one of several conservators who led work in Florence, Italy after the devastating Arno River flood in 1966. He also authored “Procedure for Salvage of Water Damaged Library Materials,” published in 1975 and revised 1993. Photo by Yoichi Okamoto.
